Jurassic - (about 210 million to 140 million years ago) is the second period of the Mesozoic Era. Conifers and ginkgo trees flourished in Asia. Pangaea continued to separate. Cretaceous - (about 140 million to 65 million years ago) is the third period of the Mesozoic Era. Although dinosaurs continued to prosper, they all became extinct at the end of this era. Pangaea, which began to split in the Triassic Period, quickly formed the Atlantic Ocean in the Cretaceous Period.
